Abstract 
 Turbud (Operculina turpethum L.) belongs to the family Convolvulaceae, a potent and well-known medicinal herb, used in Unani system of medicine treat several diseases. It is large perennial twinner with milky juice. Roots are long, slender, fleshy, much branched. In classical text it mentioned that which white colour, light weighted having resin on both ends good quality. medicine, its main actions expectorant laxative diseases like arthritis, ascites, gout, hemiplegia etc. According Ibn Sina use along zanjabeel more effective. has been as an important component many compound formulations such Itrifal Ustu-khud’dus, Zamani, Muqil, Mulaiyyin. The major chemical constituents present turpethin, glucoside, jalapine, convolvulin Operculina L. validated for different pharmacological anti-inflammatory effect, ulcer protective review comprehensively embodied phytochemical, pharmacognostic description.
